National Action Network Brings AI Fluency Initiative to Harlem — Empowering Communities Through Technology

The National Action Network (NAN) recently brought its AI Fluency Initiative to the House of Justice, located at 6 Hancock Place in Harlem, on October 20, 2026. The session provided an opportunity for community members to learn more about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its growing influence on everyday life.

The session was part of a nationwide series held throughout September and October 2026, offering insight into Artificial Intelligence through expert speaker Susan Hearn. The initiative focused on helping Black and Brown communities, families, small business owners, and community organizers better understand and utilize AI tools — empowering them to actively shape their communities and benefit from emerging technology rather than risk being left behind.

Other organizations represented during the October 20th session at NAN's House of Justice included Spark the Brain (@sparkthebrainnetwork) and HuCapital (@HUcapitalco), both offering additional opportunities for networking, professional development, and engagement with emerging technology.

Spark the Brain also hosted its After Work Mixer on October 22, 2026, providing another opportunity for professionals to connect.

HuCapital has an upcoming event, HuLane: NYC, a professional AI matchmaking mixer with a traffic-light twist, scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at 512 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036

As the National Action Network emphasizes:

“Every generation deserves access to the knowledge and tools needed to keep up and move forward.”

Through its AI Fluency Initiative, NAN seeks to close the digital divide by bringing practical AI education directly into communities. The program introduces participants to the fundamentals of AI, its applications, and the tools that can assist with employment, education, business, and everyday activities — all presented in accessible language with no prior experience required.

With Artificial Intelligence increasingly influencing jobs, education, healthcare, and access to information, initiatives such as this are especially valuable in helping communities remain informed, engaged, and prepared for the future.

Vital tools in technology are important and valuable for communities to access. Maintaining a position at the forefront of technological advancements — in both established and emerging markets — presents opportunities for substantial growth, professional development, and community advancement.

Harlem continues to benefit from initiatives that bring knowledge, resources, and opportunities directly to the people. As the economy and technology continue to evolve, the message remains clear: stay informed, stay engaged, and don't forget to RETOOL!
