Halloween And Our Community Affairs Officers

The 25th Precinct wants kids to be safe this Halloween. Here is what they’ve got planned:

We are excited to announce we will be partnering with the 23 Precinct, 28 Precinct, PSA 5, Youth Services Division and Manhattan Outreach Unit to bring you Halloween in Harlem. Our joint event will take place on Thursday, October 26th from 2pm to 8pm. There will be a lot of activities going on and we hope to make a safe environment for all the kids in our community.

Trunk Or Treat – East 115 Street between 5th and Madison Avenue, 2pm – 4pm: We will begin our festivities at 2pm with our Trunk or Treat. We will be ready to go right after school, so  bring your kids in their best costume to 115 Street to get their candy from the trunks of some interesting vehicles, including NYPD & FDNY Vehicles. We will also use this area as staging for the parade.

Costume Parade – East 115 Street & Madison Avenue, 4pm: We will have our first annual Costume Parade, beginning at East 115 Street & Madison Avenue. We will walk North on Madison Avenue to East 125 Street, West on 125 Street to Frederick Douglass Blvd., and then South on Frederick Douglass Blvd. to West 123 Street. Please come with your best costume and join us! We will have some special guests leading the way.

Halloween Block Party – West 123 Street & Frederick Douglass Blvd., 4pm – 8pm: We will end out with a Halloween Block Party right next to the 28th Precinct. There will be music and a lot more fun activities for the children.

How can you help? We are accepting candy donations for these events, please make sure all candy is individually wrapped. Any donation of decorations to decorate some vehicles would be appreciated. Partner with us! If your organization would like to participate, please contact one of the contact numbers on the flyer and we can assist you on how best to fit you in. For example, if your organization has a vehicle, we would love for you to decorate it and bring it to our Trunk or Treat to assist us in giving out candy. Lastly, and the best way for you to help us, is to spread the word and show us some support. We would love to see you at all the festivities of this event!

The flyer is attached for your reference. Thank you and we hope to see you there. Have an amazing day!

Newfest in Partnership with Harlem Pride
Directed by Nneka OnuorahA call of faith and resilience in the fight for safe LGTBQIA+ spaces within the Black church from Emmy Award® winner Nneka Onuorah

The Black church presents many opportunities to establish ties with a community that can offer significant support, sometimes for as long as a lifetime. But for LGBTQIA+ folks, entering a religious environment can mean exposing themselves to rejection and constant vulnerability.

Emmy Award® winner and NewFest alumna Nneka Onuorah (NewFest27 Audience Award winner, THE SAME DIFFERENCE) invites us to join her to closely witness the activism of those fighting for safer spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals within the Black church. Magnifying the voices of activist leaders, Onuorah’s documentary presents an unfiltered look at their experiences and emerges as a demand for both recognition and change.

This film will be followed by a Q&A.
